Skimmer Question/Problem

Over the past couple of days My skimmer has been putting out a lot of tiny bubbles, and has been louder. So I took it off cleaned it reassembled and put it back on. I noticed the little screw valve on the air intake so I tightened it. The water still flows through the one tube but the bubbles and all the noise stopped. Did I do something good or bad?

Can you elaborate a little about where the bubbles stopped? Are there still bubbles within the skimmer itself? If not, it sounds like you completely turned off the air intake which would disable the skimmer.

If you don't see a major reduction of bubbles within the skimmer you could be alright. Personally, I would lean towards having more bubbles than less to keep it efficient.
Putting a bag of chemi-pure or filter floss under the output worked for me to keep the bubbles out of the tank. Another option would be to move the skimmer away from the sump pump.
