I've been having a real problem with my skimmer making a "grinding" noise lately. I thought that this was just because we had turned the AC off after a hot summer, and we were just not used to the sound any more...not the case.
Well, anyway it occurred to me that this was a fairly new skimmer in the tank and we had really only been hearing the "new" sounds before the AC (before the break in period). I was thinking that perhaps the powerhead was going out...thoughts on replacing that.
Tonight though, for some reason it occurred to me to check the venturi valve and how it was set. Sure enough!!! Not a grinding noise since. I also emptied and adjusted the collection cup, so here's hoping. My skimmer is an Odyssea pro pack. It's been pulling gunk like crazy out of the water...hopefully with these adjustments it will keep on doing just that.
Just wanted to post this for information to others.
