A buddy of mine just upgraded his tank and has a Red Sea C-1800 Protein Skimmer for $150 and a Reef Octopus 110 for $100, what I would like to know is what one of these is better product? It will be skimming my 55gal tank. Any input would be appreciated.

The Reef Octopus hands down is the better product. IMO You should have done a poll...LOL...which one should you choose...

Is a hundred a good price for being used
Go online and look up the skimmer. I have a rule to never pay more than 1/2 price for a piece of used equipment...whatever you pay really depends on it's condition. If it's cleaned up or crusty...does it need new parts or hoses...that kind of thing.

Certain pieces of equipment hold their value a little more than others IMHO.....A good seller is always going to have his equipment cleaned up before putting them up for sale......How old is the skimmer.....I don't think $100 is unfair for the skimmer though.....
