skimmer questions

I have been in this hobby for about 3 years. I want to install a recirculating skimmer (reef octopus ddnw 250) in a cabinet about 4 feet from my sump, i also want to feed the skimmer with the water coming out of the overflows on my 125 gallon RR dt. My questions are, can this be done and is this skimmer overkill for a 125 fully stocked? Any help would be much appreciated .
THANK FOR ANY HELP

Explain how you would supply water and return it?
water would inter the skimmer from the dt returns (about 800 gph) and out of the skimmer to the sump, my return pump in the sump to dt is a quiet one 4000

Are you going to put skimmer in its own sump? I am trying to visualize the set up. Is your sump 4' away now?
All skimmers that I have seen either sit in sump or HOB. They pump their own water and iar in the skimmer. Most require a stable water level. And then plumbing the water back to a sump(if it is not right there) will require a pump. The exit from a skimmer has no real pressure- only gravity.
Draw a picture of your set up.
