Skimmer Questions

I have been cycling my tank for about 4 days now with LR. I bought a Bak Pak skimmer and decided to try it out. I seem to be getting too much foam, it is overflowing from the collection cup. The foam is also white, instead of brown. What should I do?

i usually try to keep my waterline below where the collection cup comes off at. (the O-ring) sometimes alittle lower than that. I have a Prizm hang on skimmer.. When i unplug it for tank mantainance, if i dont watch it , it will fill up with foam that turns into water. I just readjust the water flow.
