looking for a good HOB Skimmer for a 10 gallon nano. Can someone please recommend one, preferably cheap? Also, will there be enough room to still use the glass top with the skimmer? I currently just set my lights on top of the glass so I would like to be able to keep the glass top.

Damn I am serious. Some threads say yes, some no. I am currently battling some cyano and do not know if a skimmer would help signifigantly. Sorry for the newbie question. Just wanted some input from those with experience. So i ask again, is a skimmer needed for a 10 gallon?

Well that's what I also want to know... I'm serious.
If some say yes and some say no I would go with whatever I wanted. 10 gallons is still small so I would personally not go with one.

i bought a skilter for my 20 gallon reef ...it was in there for about 20 minutes before i packed it up and sent it back.
Just do your 10 % water changes weekly and you will be fine, as long as you have adequate live rock and flow for filtration

Oh, dont buy one of the nano fission skimmers either, total waste also.

On a tank that small, I wouldn't bother with a skimmer. Just do frequent water changes and be careful not to overstock or overfeed.

There not too cheap but a Aqua C nano remora or a tunze. If you want cheap then get a Odyssea Pro Pack Protein Skimmer for about $40. They also make a HOB refugium wit a skimmer for $50. I dought they work too good but it's only $5O.

Would you mind sharing with me what specimens you have in that 10 gallon nano!? I find it interesting.
I read that small tanks are for the experts only!
