Skimmer Recommendations

I currently have a Euroreef CS-6 for my 225g, that is way to small for that size tank. I was looking at the Octopus Extreme MSX 200, but from what I have been reading, it's to small for my setup as well. With the sump I have, I'd say it's about 20g sump with a 11"x12" footprint, so total water would be in the 240-250g range. I like the Reef Octopus skimmers, but I really would like one that is more tall than short and fat!! Can anyone recommend a great skimmer for a tank that has a heavy bioload?

Check out the attached pics. Eventually, that 20g drilled sump will be swapped for my 55g AG that I built a few months back. SO I would like a skimmer to handle the upgrade which would be a total of about 275g's. Thanks guys!

so, which is it, the 11x12 footprint, or will you have more room in the new sump?
they make a msx 250 and msx 300 also, if you like those skimmers.

I would like to have it fit in the 11x12 footprint temporary, until I can get a new mag return pump for the 55g sump. Can't do all that right now, money... But the skimmer is needed. I checked out the MSX 250 and 300. Those 2 seem to big to fit into both my sumps. Pls correct me if I'm wrong??

In both cases I have about 11" in width to play with?

So I'm also checking out the OCTOPUS 8" RECIRCULATING PROTEIN SKIMMER 300G and the Octopus Extreme Skimmer Model 300. Other than the Octopus 8" is a taller/slimmer skimmer. Is there a difference in performance?

Ok, I narrowed it down to the Octopus OCT-DNW-200 Protein Skimmer. I was gonna run the outlet diameter 5 ft to my sump. With that being said there will be a 90 and a 45 fitted into the plumbing. Will that reduce the production of the skimmer at all with those fittings?

Your going to put a 45 and a 90 on the output of the skimmer? And run that 5 foot? I cant say that's a good idea. It may put more head pressure on it and thus not allow you to adjust the level down. Of course though elevating the skimmer some could help this. Either way though, I can tell you it will work?

It should. I asked a lot of questions about how I plan on running the outlet pipe back into my sump. As long as it runs horizontal of course. This is only temp until I can get together and get my new sump ready to rock and roll!
