So, I just ordered an ETSS Reef Devil (first skimmer ever) for my 65 gallon. I'm currently running a 15 gallon sump. I'm planning on setting it up externally because of space. The problem that I think I may have is this. My sump has an entry on the left side where water comes in from the overflow. It deposits into a slot where I keep maybe 20 bio balls (the width of this compartment is just big enough to fit the bio balls maybe 3 inches). On the other end, I have a compartment that's about 12 x 7. I currently have my return pump in there. If I understand correctly, I'll need to run a pump to the skimmer and another to the DT. Can I have both pumps running from the same side, same partitioned slot of the sump? It seems like it would be counter productive. Please advise.
