Skimmer suggestions

Dont get one. They are crappy, just above prisms in quality and thats being lenient. I personally have a Seabay(Euroreef clone) on my 55 and it does great. BAKPAKs work great too for a little less $$ than the Euroreefs and Seabays.

We have a Seclone 150 protein skimmer in a 75 gal tank. We love it. It suck out more gross stuff than you can imagine. The advice we got was to go double the size of tank for water flow.
We were told to clean the skimmer once a week...we have to clean it every 2 to 3 days or it gets disgusting and full.
What other filters do you have running?

I am still a newbie at this...but one thing I've learned...better to go with a bigger filter or skimmer than you think you need. If the data sheet says the filter/skimmer is good for 55 gal, go the next size up. We're running the SeaClone and a biowheel and a canister filter for our 75 gal tank. Also put in a few powerheads as we had some dead flow spots. We also have about 40 pounds of live rock...I just ordered more.

I have a 55 gallon with 2 802 Aquaclear Powerheads (400 GPH each). an Emperor 400 (GPH) and I am thinking of getting a Skimmer for a 100 gallon tank.
My LFS said they have had no problems running their SeaClones.

We were a little scared when we first bought the SeaClone as this message board really panned them. We've had no problems and it's running great.
The 100 sounds like a good size for your tank. Do you have live rock? My LFS told me that if I had enough live rock, I wouldn't need other filtration. I'm not so sure about that....he showed me a 120 gal with live rock, coral, fish...and no filter at all. I think I'm too much of a wimp to try that.

I've had a sea clone and I switched to Euro Reef, and that is what I would reccommend. The difference is night and day. I know the Euro costs a bit more, but it's money well spent, but thats just me...

I use an Aqua C Remora Pro on my 55. It does a great job. I would suggest getting the skimmer box with it.
