skimmer wet-neck??

hum.. i did a little more reaserch on skimmers and something came up.. i got the kist of it but no the whole lot.. i need more clrearyfication....... the subject is a skimmer wet-neck.. it's sapose to make your skimmer proform better... it's something about a lip on the riser tube of the skimmer and water is pumped to it till it overflow back into the reaction chamber... any1 have more info onit?? a pic even??

Not to get off the subject but has anyone used one of these? OVERFLOW SURFACE SKIMMER MARINE REEF OR FRESHWATER NIB. I am looking at one for my sump I am building. :help:

From what I know, a wet neck is basically a stream of water that trickles from the top of the skimmer down to help prevent sludge from building up in the skimmer and making it easier for the foam to reach the collection cup.
I know that Deltec and RK2 Systems sell optional self-cleaning heads for their skimmers that are basically fancy wet necks.

hum.. that realy help me out some.. i dint know what it acted as or did ... thx for the info... but do u now if this 'wet-neck' actually work?? do it have any actual benifit to it when installed to a skimmer?..
