What makes a good skimmer, eg what is the difference between a cheap one which is the same size as an expensive one.

well you have venturie valves,air valve,becket valve and down draft are all diffrent ways to get the air into the skimmer the whole key is the contact time and size of the bubles. a good skimmer will pull alot of junk out even when a cheaper skimmer stops. also a good skimmer will not put micro bubles into your tank. I prefer either myreef or PM bullet skimmers wich are really about the same skimmer there are better but those 2 are on the high end. A good med price skimmer is a berlin turbo, and a low end a prizm. with skimmers the sky and your wallet is the limit lol
