Skimmer ?

Ya, me again!
Any negative effects of running, say.........4, 3" X 18" cross current skimmers in sequence to achieve the same effect as a large, say 4" X 24" cross current skimmer? Put an air stone in each tube. I have an idea, again do to space concerns. I know you would have 4 cups to clean instead of one, a negative in itself ;)
Thanks

Yep, you still would not achive the same as having one large skimmer. The thing that makes a skimmer effective is the Contact time between the bubbles and the proteins. The smaller the skimmer, the less time they are in contact. Even with multiple skimmers, the contact time is less.

Makes sense, kinda. The only time they would be out of contact is the travel time from tube to tube. I would think the tubes would have a filtering effect, creating less and less proteins in the water from tube to tube and get the same effect. So youre saying that as soon as the water loses contact with the bubbles, the cycle starts completely over?
