No, a skimmer pulls out nutrients from stuff in the water like extra coral food. It doesn't do a thing for ammonia.
Besides you want the ammonia, this feeds the good bacteria that needs to live in the tank to keep the fish alive, they poop nitrites and then nitrite eating bacteria develops and they poop nitrates...then you do a water change to remove them. That is the cycle that goes on perpetually inside the tank, the fish poop and it starts all over....
