Skimmers I wonder if this would work?

I have one of the most hated skimmers on this message board (Seaclone). I had it working great until the prefilter got full of nasty. Now I can’t seem to get it to stop putting bubbles in the tank. So last night as I was trying to fall asleep and considering spending $200 on a new skimmer I had a revelation. Why not take my skimmer and have it return in to the over flow for my sump?? Then any bubbles would just do down into my sump.
Well long story short I was going to look at it this morning but I over slept and had to run out the door in order to get to work. Do any of you think this has a chance? Sure would be nice if it did.

If you have baffles in your sump it might work. If not, the bubbles will just be sucked into the tank by the return pump. I had to build baffles to fix the same problem with another skimmer

You dont have to spend $200 in a good skimmer try the Prizm Skimmer for only $60 it works grate in my 60 gal.tank and it dosent make alot of noise like the seaclone and the powerhead of the Prizm go out side of the tank(least head in your tank).
