Skunk Grouper

I have a skunk Grouper that is about 3 1/2 '' (inches) and still has a red dotted pattern, with a white line between its eyes. He changes color to a orange camo, which look really cool. But people have been telling me that he should be a purple -white-pink-orange color by now !! Is he just not at that stage yet or is something wrong with him ?

The fish is Variola Louti.
Yea, all types of commonnames, Lyretail, Skunk, and Louti (preferred). It gets "Skunk" from it's juvi coloration. As the fish matures it changes into sorta the stage you have now. As you can see in the second picture, compared to the size of the Anthias, you can get an idea of how big this fish gets. As they start to put on size, they tend to get very aggressive with tankmates.

The confusion here is that there are two groupers commonly called skunk groupers. The more common is the variola louti, the one pictured above. The other is the variola albimarginata, which you have.
