I learned today that a antibiotic called erethromyacin can be used to rid slime algae. I was told use about 200mg per 10G of water. I went to my cache of meds and could not find the erethromyacin. Does anyone know if Tetracicalyn will work??? I have that and penacillin too. Thanx for any help

I agree with beth totally on this one you risk your entire tank and corals if you try this.I used a red slime remover once in my reef one dose alone yes it killed the red slime.converted it to hair algae over nite.I was lucky i dodnt lode any corals to this but you have to cure the cause of the problem in a more natural soloution.these bacteria thrive not only on nitrates and nitrites they also thrive on phosphates even if you are using ro/di water, waste contributes phosphates into your water.changing filter media regularly will help reduce all of the bad bacteria in which cyno thrives on.
