Was moving rock around and found this Bright Green Slimey thing on my rock, it looks like snot formed cob webs with a hole in the middle and the holes sometimes looks like it closes up. (Sorry I know this is GROSS:eek: but that is what it looks like) Cannot get a picture of it and NO I WILL NOT TOUCH IT. Any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks

Sounds like a keyhole limpet - good algae eaters, but if you have leather type corals they'll eat them too.

sounds like a sponge to me. I have several q-tip like sponges on the undersides of rocks. I also have several larger black ones growing in low light areas, and one orange colored one growing on the underside ledge of a rock.

Not really....if you can get a pic that would help. Just keep an eye on it. If it is a limpet and you have a FOLR tank, it shouldn't hurt anything.

My first thought was sponges also, but mine do not feel slimey. If indeed it is, they just filter feed and harmless. Regular water changes should be fine.

sponges are pretty easy to identify. They are poreous and have a central opening. Most sponges are harmless but some can create toxins and emit them in the water to clear areas for themselves. But not all do that
