Does anyone know where I can find either 4 x 4 inch fans or 5 x 5 inch fans to mount in my canopy? Just finish off the canopy and put the halide on the inside and wow, does it ever get hot inside. I have looked everywhere for these fans. I can find them in 12v but not in 110. Please help!!

I did check radio shack and they sell them but they are sold out. Said they didn't know when they were getting more in. Any other places that you know of.

You can order them online from www.radioshack.com. Don't mean to sound like an advertisement cuz I'm not a big fan (no pun intended) of Radio Shack, but for little things they're usually the easiest.

Sorry but I forgot to mention that you can find them at numerous aqua supply places online but be prepared to pay 2 or 3 times more for something that is labeled "for aquarium use" LOL Dumb question, why don't you want 12 volt? cheaper, easy to wire and move just about the same amount of air?

yes it's different but certainly not complicated. you just need to pick up a transformer, LOL back to radio shack again. You need a transformer that is rated to the amps of the total of the fans ie. 5 600 ma fans = 3 amps of transformer. Take one 12v3a transformer and wire it to the first of the fans and then "daisy chain" the fans together. Much cheaper and it might (not sure here) draw less power. Just my .02

Didn't really want to go to all of the trouble with buying a transformer and all. But if it will be cheaper then that is the way I will go. Thanks for the help.

Going over 3 amps of "fan power" can get expensive. The transformers zoom up in price but the money savings on a "normal" fan setup is well worth the minor wiring hassle. If you're looking for a source for the computer fans drop me a note chiesmanp@aol.com BTW, I tried this as an experiment at first cuz I refused to pay the $$$$$$ for the so-called aquarium cooling fans.
Good luck which ever way you decide to go!
