Thats so cool! I like how they said that the street lights that we grew up with are going to change soon. When in all reality every city in the country is going to be so freaking cheap that it wont happen until 5 years after the release the bulb.
Also it did mention that this bulb runs at 6000 Kelvin the same temp as the surface of the sun.
#1 how is that possible with out it melting a hole thru the earth.
#2 Ill let someone else put that on their tank and post here about how fast all the water evaporated out of there tank.

They are referring to color temperature, not heat temperature. The higher the color temperature the bluer the light. A 6000K bulb is kind of yellow while a 10,000K or 14000K bulb is bluer.
I wonder if/when they'll be available for our hobby. LED's have been around for a while but have only recently been used for reefs. Just like the LED, I'm sure it will take a while for them to perfect it.
