small tangs

Any tangs out there that are known as smaller tangs? If so, what is their max size? I would like to put one in my 55 gal fo tank, and also be able to add one or two other fish.

I had a small/medium yellow tang in our 55gl. It did find till my clown killed it. When we were setting up the 55gl we were told that was a good size for a small/medium tang. Others say that tangs need more room. imo it depends on what you have in your tank and how much swimming room the tang will have. the more room they have the happier they will be? Also, you might want to add the tang last, as they can be territoral. I have no clue how big other tangs get or if some are smaller, I *think* the purple tang needs more room.

pushing it, but the koles yellow eye, gets 6 to 7 inches, and although they should have 75 galons, they really in my opinion need a good 4 ft(55 is 4ft) and should be able to do ok(BUT NO SMALLER), in a 55
i really like to see tangs in larger tanks, so i am not reccomending it, but most will get one anyhow, in your case, if you are i would look into the koles(and do not look at the pics you find, THEY ARE NO GOOD, the fish is much more beautiful in person)

I have a powder brown in my 55. They grow to around 8". I realize however that one day i may have to take him back to the LFS.
Yellow tangs grow to around 7"
Gold Rim around 8"
Chevron Tang around 7"
