I just watched SMASHED, its an hbo movie. Im using it for my dare class and think it may scare some sense into a few young drivers. At least thats what im hoping will happen. Any parents with young drivers who need an opening to talk about drinking and driving or just some proof to show the kids, perfect movie. if interested you may be able to download it online, i bought it at barnes and noble for 15-

I'm 14, drug free. DARE is an okay program. I think this what could be better. I had it in 3rd grade...6 years ago and in third grade you don't make the choices about it, when your in high school is when you might have to make the choice. I remember being showed cartoons that were like this. Jane does drugs, janes friends don't like her anymore because she smells. Stuff like that does nothing. Drugs are brutal and do terrible things to people, I think they should show movies that show the brutal reality of it. Words do nothing to a teen. In P.E. my coach showed a video (nothing required by district or anything) just something to get it through are heads ( some kid had weed and the coach found it) and showed us the video. A person on drugs hit another person, a mom, the mom was pushing 2 strollers and in each stroller 2 kids. Everyone died. Because one person wanted to fit in and do drugs. My opinion is show the most brutal, irritating, and unstandable part of drugs and show that to us, and I guarantee to you, so many people would quit and NEVER even think about it. Just my opinion but I thought it could help you out.

Yeah, drinking and driving and drugs are stupid. Marijuana shouldnt be classified as a drug though. If alcohol is legal than why isnt marijuana?

Yeah, I agree.
I also agree that Dare should be taught at a later age (I had it in 6th grade) and that anti-anything presentations should be more brutally honest. When I was in high school, my school brought in mothers who had recently lost kids to drunk driving. It was pretty difficult because you could see the emotion in all of their voices. The drugs presentation they would do was brutal though. They would show the worst of the worst, and I think that really hit home with a lot of people. More things like that need to be shown.

I don't get drinking/drugs. I used to smoke pot but then realized how stupid it was! Now I can't be around people who drink or do any kind of drugs. There are much better things to do with your life. I'm 18 and a senior in high school and everyone does these things. My boyfriend doesn't drink anymore for me and I really wish my friends would quit, especially with anything more than marijuana. It just worries me- to all the kids out there- it isn't worth it! Concentrate on your future!

But we have to remember about peer pressure, some of the people i know drink or use drugs just because they wanted to be accepted and fit in into a society. Some of my friends choose to do so because they want to be branded cool, screw that!!
For me, being the person that stands up among a crowd, is what makes you unique.
Dont let others define who you are!! :)

Thats why I don't have many friends. They would rather do what ever it takes to be accepted then be themselves. It makes me sick!

This is my opinion so please dont bash me for it. I had the most amazing and life changing expierences with friends while doing ectasy, acid, and cocaine. Ive only done each a few times, which is all i will ever do. If you dont over do it, the odds of you dieing are one in a million. You think on a different spiritual level and everyones your friend. The few times i have done drugs, i felt motivated for life and i was closer to my freinds and family. Alcohol and pot make you silly. Drugs are still bad though and i dont recomend them to anyone.
