SMOKE!! Gets in your eyes! We awoke this past weekend at 2:30 in the morning with a strange smell. Upon entering our living room, it was filled with smoke (we are getting a smoke detector). Couldn't find a fire anywhere, though I did call 9-1-1 in hopes that they could help us locate where the smoke was coming from. Before the fire department arrived, my husband found that our submersible heater had burned up causing this mess. The fish were slowly dying. By time the fire department came, all 13 of our fish were on the bottom. There was a film left on the water from the heater, so we decided at 3:00 in the morning we would do a water change. We have a 90 gallon and ended up changing 50% of the water. Then we had the job of getting out all the dead fish. Our school of 6 chromis' came out first. Then we noticed some of the fish were starting to move a little. We took my tang and a blue damsel out and put them in our extra water change tank. Slowly but surely after the change and about 2 hours, all the fish were up and moving again, but the chromis'. They were the only ones to bite the dust. I was sooo happy.:D I think maybe they got shocked. I really don't know.

be on the look out for HLLE with the fish. Sometimes current in the tank will cause this.
Good thing your noses didn't go to sleep. :scared:
