Smoke

Odd question here but...
My wife smokes (NASTY habit) and I was wondering if anyone has had consequences due to cigarette smoke with their tanks? If so, aside from getting her to quit....are there any remedies for it? Filter??????

WE need more info to help you. Does your wife stand over the tank and blow her smoke into it? Does she use the tank as an ashtray? Does she post your bad habits and addictions on the boards? If not I wouldn't worry about it and I'd give her a kiss and tell her you love her tonight and never let her see that you put out this post! <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

i read somewhere it is bad! if you have a skimmer it amplifies the prob the air that goes into your tank comes from the room thats why no chem. perfums cologe ect. are to be near the tank! they sell charcoal filters to put on the air intake of the skimmers ect. you could make one yourself!

Any smoke is pollution and has the potential to enter your tank and harm animals. More so with reef tanks.
I would suggest that you use a canopy.
Tell your wife to smoke outside! LOL...that's what I do, but I don't smoke much either

Beth, I do use a decent canopy and all openings are well covered since I have a snowflake. But I was only curious if anyone else had any thoughts on the subject.

Well, I didn't read it to respond uselessly and maybe I did overeact a bit but that "NASTY" part just must have gotten to me. Thought you were being sarcastic and so I was back. Hard to read intention into written words sometimes. Please accept my apologies. BTW, I'm following this thread because there is a smoker in my family too.
