You'd want something for long term care that is a minimum of eight feet long and 4 feet wide. Keep in mind they like cold water so you're limited on keeping them successfully in warm water. If it is warm water you need to make sure you provide adequate aeration/saturation.

Bonnetheads need a tank of atleast 10 feet diameter. Square tanks are a problem because they will damage their heads which will lead to death. The minimum gallonage is well over 1000 gallons with 5000 or more being better. If a square tank is the only option then all corners must be rounded to prevent damage.
