Snail or slug or what?

I recently started seeing these small like snails or slug like things in my tank and on my glass. Seems like they are more active at night. they a sort of brownish, with cream looking strips on them. maybe the size of a pencil eraser. they are white on the part stuck to the glass,,, their bottom. Actually, hate to compare it this way.. but they look like a marijauna seed, white a with bottom.

LOL! We all go thru our stages in life. Just makes me more educated on keeping my kids straight. You can only look forwards not backwards!

Ok, I just read about stomatella snails. Thats it. Thanks for the help. It says they are reef safe, so I'm not gonna bother with them

Good plan because they have been shown to be the gateway snails to harder stuff, nudibranchs, sea cucumbers.

Just a joke. Marijuana being the gateway drug to harder drugs, Stomatella being the gateway slugs .............
Just a joke, apparently not a good one though.

Spanko,
That was a good one. I had to wipe off the computer screen, spit my drink out.

On a side note I believe, I have a bumble bee snail(? black shell with yellow stripe) that has left his shell and continuing around the tank
n0de. Is this norm or even ok? There are several other empty shells for him but his has been empty for about 3 weeks now.
Should I worry?

snails that have left their shells are known as "escargot" - and you find them in fine french restaurants.
empty snail shells that you find in your tank are because the snail has either died, or been eaten. Unfortunately snails cannot leave their shell like hermit crabs, they are attached.
Small "n a k e d" snails that you find in your tank are usually stomatella (who still have a little "cap") or sea slugs of some sort.
Hope that helps :)

You hit the snail on the head. Just googled it and the have a picture of my guy on there. What fun this is to just sit and watch and see what else comes around.
Thanks for info
