snail poop

im trying to identify which member of my clean up crew is leaving more waste then they are eating. if snail eat alot of algae is there waste visible? and same for hermits? my tanks a mess...

I've noticed that when my snails go through a lot of algae, they leave a rather significant track of tiny pellets behind them that appears to be poop.
