I've done water changes in the past and I've had no problems with snails dying. At that time, I would using normal tap water.
I just got an RO/DI unit. I ran it for 3hours in advance before making the new water. I don't have a TDS meter yet. I did a 10 gallon water change into my main tank using the RO/DI water. After 48hours, I have about 4 dead snails. Is this unusual? What should I check for to see whats causing the snails to die?
When I did the water change, my Salinity was at 34ppt. I moved it up to 35ppt (Im using a Refractometer). I have hermits, corals, and shrimp in the tank that are acting just fine...so I'm pretty confused. Maybe it was just coincidence. I still have about 15snails left alive in my tank.
Thanks,
Matt
