I've had a saltwater tank for five years and no problems. About 6 months ago I added by mistake 3 table spoons coral life and lots of long hair algea has grown. I did medicate with melifix six months ago also. all my snails died. I waited 3 months and did lots of water changes and added more snails they also died and my urchin lost lots of it thornes but has not died. What can i do to get rid of the long hair algea and why do my snails keep dying. I have lots of hermit crabs and a coral banded shrimp with 5 fish and everybody else is fine.
