Ok so this is the second day that i have had my snails in my tank and i noticed that about 7 out 0f ten of the little guys were at the top of my tank right by the lid...are they trying to get out and is this normal? I just figured they would be on the rocks and scooting all over the glass...Let me know guys!

It seems like snails do that alot. They will usually go right to the top and stop rather than climb out. If you do see them getting uncomfortably close, it won't hurt to push them back in.

their not trying to get out if you have never noticed a band of algae forms at the top of the water line...my snails spend quiet a bit of time there then venture else where come back a few hours later

I would be careful though depending on the heat your lighting puts out. I had a snail almost fry being on the piece of glass in the center of the tank (I have no idea what that is for
). Long story short he survived and all the algae on his shell is gone cause it got "fried off".

What kind of snails did you buy and expect to get? They are not all intertidal so this behavior could be a possible sign of a problem (eg you ordered nassarius snails and got something else). More info is needed, and also your water parameters...

If you had high ammonia, you may now have high trites and trates.
High nitrates are not good for your inverts.
luvmybizz, what are your water parameters now?
