Snails

My turbo snails keep tipping over and I right them fearing that they will die if left upside down. Is this true? I don't think they have tapped in to my liquor cabnit........is there something wrong?

Nothing wrong with them, they just do that! Mine do it too. Many times they can't get themselves turned back over unless they are very close to your live rock or glass. Turn them back over, or they will die. They tend to tip over a lot because of the size of their shell.

you might look into astrea snails as well. They are smaller and can get into some places the turbos can't. Same problem though - they can't right themselves, but I haven't noticed that they tip as often as the turbos.

At night they are more likely to extend further as the risk from predators is less. If a reachable area of rock is available, they can amazingly right themselves almost anywhere. Always good to lend a helping poke.
