yeah i did snorkel off of mile marker 14 before lahaina off the freeway there...
they say in the morning u go out about 50-75 yards and watch the turtles come in and cleaner wrasses pick off parasites.... i didnt see that cuz we got there late in the afternoon but l,ots of cool coral and some fish...
if u wanna see lots of cool fish and just snorkel from the beach.... go to Black Rock off the front of the Sheraton in Kaanapali beach.... just park at whalers village and walk down with your snorkel gear thats where i seen most of the cool fish and they see turtles there too!
another great place to go which u have to take a snorkel boat out is Molikai crater down across from Waileia beach supposedly the best there is and a great price
r u going soon?? if so its great and alot of fun we seen some humback whales from shore too they migrate there this time of year

Thanks for the info and cannot wait to see your pictures. We are not going this year but next year is our 20th anniversary and we are definatley going to Oahu again and possibly Maui too.
I know if Oahu there is a nice snorkeling place as we took a tour there last year but did not snorkel. Have you been to that one? My inlaws are there right now and the brother-in-law said it is just great.

Neat picture. Thanks for posting it. My husband and I did our first snorkeling thing this past November on our Mexican Cruise. We took an offshore excursion that took us to a private island in Ixtapa. Well this certainly was something else. I kept telling hubby that he just waisted money on this as I will not snorkel. But he did not give up and I am quite glad he pushed me to try it. The leader was great even though he did not speak a word of english we managed to communicate quite well. He knew I was a beginner and very scare to boot. He recommended that I use the boogie board to float and feel comfortable and I did not want to use the mouth piece as did my husband because over there they do not sanitize them, they say the ocean water sanitizes. Well, not this gal. So I went without and hubby did to. My husband is a good swimmer and did awesome, I did quite well with my board and seen so many fish, urchins starfish etc it was truly something else.
We were told by many there that mexico does not have the nice fish like in hawaii, we seen alot of wrasses and some big big fish. My god when I put my face in the water they were all under my board, let me tell you that freaked me out. The leader was feeding them too so we could all see the different fish there, quite something else. He then dove down and brought up what I would call a brittle starfish he called it an Australian starfish, so that was really neat and he brought up a few more other things.
We do plan to his Hunama Bay in Oahu when we go on our anniversary. This time we will have our own gear and I will try without the board, but as a back up it will be there too. I can swim but I panic in the ocean as I had a very bad experience the first time to Maui.

yeah it survived my mom did a good job i think she dosed a lil too much of calcium it got up to like 480 but im backin it off its hard to find a happy medium with the 2 part addatives cant wait for my new 180 to be set up and have all the right equipment to make it worry free
everything is doing great the only one that was suffering before i left for some unkown reason was my Humilius coral and its doing worse now

i dont know whats happening to him he was doing so great for the first 6 weeks then took a turn for the worse im thinking im guna have to start fraggin him up to save some of it hopefully but all my other corals seem to be in the same condition as i left them
pics will be coming soon!!

We went to Maui last December and it was so awesome!! At the time, we didn't have our tank and my husband knew nothing about the different varieties of fish. I've had tanks on and off for years so I knew exactly what I was seeing....it was pretty funny because every time I'd see a really special fish I'd squeal into the snorkel underwater and start pointing and trying to tell him why I was so exited. He was like :notsure: . Now that he knows his fish he would have a much bigger appreciation for it, I'm sure.
I saw all kinds of awesome fish, but the best ones were the Moorish Idols, the Achilles Tangs (they were everywhere!) and a huge moray that came out of his hidey hole to look at me. By the time I got hubby over to him he had went back in and wasn't visible.
We did the trip to Molokini and also the snorkle trip to Lanai. All along the way our boat was escorted by a pod of dolphins (is it a pod, like whales?) and we also saw the whales. Actually, we also took a whale watching trip...we didn't see any up close, but it was a GREAT time! We also went to the Maui Ocean Center....the jellyfish tank was incredible! It was kind of eerie with the music that was playing.
