snow flake eel

I know this isnt really a aggressive question but i will ask because it has to do with a snowflake. I have read and heard from my lfs the onwer who is an expert in salt water that the snowflake is a less aggressive eel and that it can be kept in a reef setup. In fact they have one in their show tank and it looks very nice. I was wondering if i could put a 5 inch one which i found at a local lfs that eats like a pig and is very healthy in my reef tank? it is a 55 gallon wiht 80 lbs of LR. I was also wondering what would be the dangers like would it attack any of my fish even though it has a really small mouth? please help i have always wanted one of these magnificant creatures and this one i think will fit nicely in my tank.

I once had a small snowflake. I found that if I fed him well, (krill) he would not bother the fish in my tank. Not fed well, he would chase smaller fish. Mine also killed nearly all of my crabs, however. I think it was a hobby of his.

My snowflake (now dead-suicide) made a great meal of a lobster that I had in the tank. The lobster was bigger than him, but he had no problems killing it!

I have shrimp in my tank his mouth is only about a cm when open and i was wondering will he kill them? and my smallest fish are 2 firefish and a sixline wrasse also a very small pygmy angel should i worry help here i really want one but not if it will kill my fish or shrimp my hermits i dont care about you dont get attached to them.

I have a snowflake that is about 18in and I promise you that he will eventually eat your shrimp. Snowflakes are almost blind and feed on scent and movement. They also grow quickly and get up to three feet. This also depends on how much you feed it, and if it is like mine it will be hungry every day. I don't feed him until he comes out swimming around the tank. OH yeah, and his main diet is shrimp. ;)

You can put the snowflake into the tank you discribed but he will make lunch out of what you said you had in the tank... it may not happen in the beginning, but sooner or later he will.
