Depends on what species of Grouper and how big the Snowflake is, in relation to the Grouper, when it's added to the tank.

the is is 18" and almost as round as a quarter the 2 groupers i have in mind are a white spotted (the type that gets 1ft) and a miniatus (the one i am worried about) the eel would be first and the groupers added in the 3-4" range or smaller

what size tank are we talking about
just a heads up when a miniata feels like he dosent have enough territory they get out right nasty

"it does not matter who first etcc... groupers prey on eel s regularly inthe wild"
I have a miniatus grouper, Just curious because I am thinking about getting an eel. My husband's fanily live in the Florida Keys and we go diving and see groupers & eels in the same hole all the time. Is it certain species that will tolerate this or what? Just curious as to what my best chances are with what kind of eel to get? Thanks

Commonly kept Groupers will not reach lengths that'll put them at a formidable advantage to a Moray. I've kept Morays with Groupers the entire time I've been in this hobby and have never once had a problem.
Talk to any long time Moray and/or Grouper owner and you'll hear the same thing 99% of the time.

just giving a heads up to the question a grouper can and will eat fish it's same size and they do prey on eels in the wild. not the best idea but if they want to try then let them. i do not get that you have been in the hobby for 2 years and have kept every fish known to man in a 90 gallon never had a fish longer than 6 months that is not success. and do not think it is right to make people believe that it is

Considering the fact that you have no idea who I am, nor have you known me anywhere else, nor do have the slightest idea as to anything you're talking about...you get the point. Go be an internet tough guy somewhere else. Why is it that you used to always email me, asking me for advice on everything...now, you make it a point to harass me?
No one ever said that Groupers dont prey on Morays and the other way around. You're getting pissy because you said it couldnt be done and more than one person has said it can be.
What Moray species and what Grouper species have you ever kept, sulley?

never said it COULD NOT be done said if they wanted to rty it then let them just was stating that they prey ohn each other in the wild. not being a tough guy so switch to decafe and relax there froggy. keeping two species together for a very SHORT amount of time is not success just stating that. and i told you until you put ron burgandy back up i will be pissed at you.

As long as the grouper can't swallow the eel, it should be fine. Just don't put a bumblebee grouper in with a tessalata, we've all seen the pictures of the outcome of that one, lol.

Sucks for the Tess, but that was one of the best pics I've ever seen of preds. in a tank!

Yep, not very often anything eats a Tess, lol. For those who didn't see the thread, a large Bumblebee Grouper gulped a large Tesselata Eel, swam around with it for a bit hanging half out of it's mouth, then if I remember correctly, spit the Tess back out. The guy froze the Tess, cut it up and fed it to the Grouper. That was one big, bada** grouper, you usually only see them that large in public aquaria. A beast like that would bust my lil 150, lol.
