what are the demensions of the tank? Long? Tall? If it was the only animal in the tank It would be okay to house for a short period time. Maybe a couple months at most. But no way for ther life of the animal.

ok so we are not sure if we are gonna keep this eel,but the dimensions of the tank are 36 long 18 tall 12 wide. i think. the only other tank mates are two blue and yellow damsels. it only has one peice of LR in it and thats it. The other option we are considering is taking it to a store with the hopes of store credit. thanx for the advice.

The tank at 36 inches long is plenty length. It has enough room to fully extended and actually move. I would buy a few more pieces of live rock so that it has enough room to hide. Id say when the eel gets closer to 2 feet long you will have issues. SFE during the day pretty stay inactive and night like to move around. I would say its not cramped at all. If you cant buy a bigger set up in the next 6 months or so then I would just talke it to the store. But a 55 gallon or a 75 with just the two damsels and eel would be a awesome set up. Could even get a few more damsels for activity and color.

That tank size is fine. I have a year and half old one which is around 20" long and lives in a conch shell. Thats right - curls his long ole body in this thing and just sits with his head barely hanging out. Has a whole 150g to cruise about in but just sits in the shell. Really only see him at feeding time.

well went aginst my better judgenent and are keeping it till summer and an kinda excited
got a funny story bout the little thing. well it is superbowl sunday and we put him in a ten gallon tank and then went to a superbowl party and when we came home he was fine s it was late so i went to bed. the tank is upstares and next to the rail(only for a week) anyway i went to bed and areoun midnight my parents heard a thunk! so my dad got up and as soon as he walked out of his room he was greated with a crabby and scared snowflake. we jumped over the rail hit the tredmill fell two stories and hit the ground! Dad netted him and plopped him in the tank and he is still in his tank and just fine. He is headed to my biology class room tank donated by me and i am thilled.!
