Well, it would be blue ridge coral> The color is actually a brown, but when you frag it the calcified skelekton of it is blue. It actually is not the prettiest coral but I like it for its rariety.

I did not think it was rare, but maybe that is me. I have seen a bunch of them in my area, lately.
Nonetheless, I think they are a cool coral.

it might not be that rare, my LFS told me that it is a coral that can not be collected anymore because it is from Florida or the Caribbean. Perhaps there are pacific areas of blue coral. But, I guess the LFS is assured that this coral was from the Flordia/caribbean waters before the ban. They have never sold or fragged any of it. I have become great friends with the owner and they treat me right, so we fragged two small pieces and I got to keep one.
I also have a good size colony of Bariarium, which is another florida/carribean coral that can not be collected.

Teen,
Are you talking about the blue coral? I do not see any polyp extension even on the mother colony at the LFS. The LFS has had that colony for many many years. it does have a very smooth brown "Fur", almost like velvet.

and they do have some absolutely beautiful polyp extensions. They are very white. Mine do best with a lot of flow and MEGA LIGHT..You can see a picture of mine under a post titled.."BLUE RIDGE" from about 2 years ago. I would link the pic but don't know how.Anyway they are one of my favorites, I kinda agree about the rarity of them though..Enjoy your new coral...keep us posted. I think you will see they are terriffic growers as well

so is polyp extension a sign of good health. if so, how come the mother coral which has been a live in a tank for many years never has the PE?
