Sohal or Clown Tang for Aggressive Reef

Well I've sold all my livestock from my 240g FOWLR, I have my 16 HO T5's ready to install, I'm upgrading my Aqua C EV240 skimmer from a Mag 12 to a Mag 18.
Now it's time to start planning livestock for my soon to be Softy Reef.
I will be moving about 17 random Damsels and my Jap Dragon Moray into this tank. I plan to add 1 dz Green Chromis and 1 dz Atl Blue Reef Chromis.
Now I need 1 show fish. I'm thinking either Sohal or Clown Tang. I will be using my 75g QT tank to make sure I have a healthy individual before moving it down. This 1 last fish will be the 1 and only big fish in the tank.
So what do you think Sohal, Clown, something else? I only want 1 show fish, what would you put in an 8x2x2 tank with an eel and 3-4 dz chromis/damsels?

Between the two, I think the Clown is slightly prettier. And as the only real fish, there's obviously no aggression issues. Granted, there is a very strong chance the Clown is will the typical Clown tang, and be short lifed. At their price point, it's worth an attempt or two.
BUT IMO, if I had to pick just one fish with the Eel and damsels, not a tang, but, TripleTail Wrasse. A 240gal should be large enough for just him and the Eel.

He's not reef safe. I'll have dozens of snails and crabs in there.
HAS to be reef safe.

Don't know anything about clown tangs but my Sohal is the coolest fish I ever had. Lots of personality, isn't afraid of anything, inlcuding me or anyone else going by the tank, always swims upfront, never hides, beautiful. Out of all the fish I ever had, if I had to have just one, it'd be the Sohal.

Harley, I think it's a big risk to have any show sized fish in there with your Dragon. Problem is you don't typically see either fish on the market much larger than 6 inches or so. If you think it's worth the risk, I agree with Aqua, the Clown is tough to beat for "looks", but the Sohal has a far far better survival rate in captivity.

Cost and looks have got me thinking Clown too. If the eel attacks a $40 fish I can say lesson learned. If he attacks a $150+ fish I will be kicking myself.
BTW, my eel is currently in a 75g with 17 various Damsels (1 Sgt Major, 2x 4 stripe Humbugs, 3x Dominos, 2x Fiji Blues, 5x Gold Bellys, and 4x Neon Damsels). And all fish are doing well with none eaten.

From a "speed" standpoint, no eel would ever catch a Clown or Sohal, if he ever gets him it would be an accident, or going for the same food.

If you come over to pick him up, I'll give you my 10" Sohal. He's gonna outgrow my tank anyway.

HA! I think my wife would kill me if I gave away Steve. I keep telling her that Steve can't stay in a 150gal forever but she has selective hearing.

I think a 10 inch Sohal handle his own. I have seen my fimby eat fish I never thought possible but a 8 foot tank gives me hope
