Some fish die in my saltwater tank

Hi,
I've had my 72 gallon saltwater tank for about 6 months. One damsel remains from the beginning. My eel is strong and healthy, my clown fish is active, my Heniochus is super active and always hungry.
But I've had 3 of 4 small chromis die. And now two Bangaii cardinalfish die. Whay am I doing wrong that this fish can't survive in my tank. The first cardinal lasted only 4 days. The pet store gave me a new one which was healthier and more active for sure, but after 10 days he is ill and will probably die tonight.
My salinity is right on. No nitrites, And the only chemical problem I'm having is getting my PH level up to 8.1 or so. The other fish are fine. Could this be the problem?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well, could you list all of your water levels for us please?
What is your pH (normally), alkalinity, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, specific gravity, and temperature?
Also, how long are you acclimating these fish?
