Some fragging questions before my first attempt

well as the title says i have some questions before i attempt to frag some stuff in my tank. the reason i want to do this is because i have some corals begining to grow into places i dont want them. Fist i have some xenia which is spreading that i would like to remove in some spots but cant remove the rock they are on. will that cause a problem? Also do i try to peel it off like i would with zoas? The second one is some pallys which are beginning to grow up my clam and also are choking out some nice neon green Zoas. This rock can be removed to frag but not the ones on the clams shell. Would it be a problem if i try to remove those ones in the tank? Im worried about pally toxin affecting other corals and hurting the clam.
I will try to post some pics of what i mean later.
Thanks for the help

Xenia you can just peel, cut, tear and rip, but I would peel it slowly. BUT, sometimes it will grow back anywhere where you leave tissue at from the endeavor. You CAN do the palys in the tank but it is a pretty steep risk whether they will or will not release the palytoxin.

Turn off all waterflow in the tank, complete the fragging and siphon out all of the slime from the Xenia. The slime is bad news if it hits a coral or coraline algae. It probably won't kill a healthy coral but it will stress anything it touches.
