Well since September 20 The snake has grown about 2 feet. Has gone from eating small rats to Large rats. I have aquired two more in that time frame. Total is 3 with a Down Payment on 3 more. They havent hatched out yet or just have and need to be fed a few times.
When I bought him.

My Albino. She has settled in and eaten for me. Now she is starting to warm up to me. She has stopped striking at me in her cage. I think she has started to understand Im not a threat. But man when I first got her. She was not happy.

You'd be surprised, as would most people who are creeped out by snakes, just how valuable they are to the ecosystem, including humans. I really get upset when people see a snake in their yard and automatically grab the hatched.

If it was up to my wife, all the snakes I find in my yard woud be killed. I don't kill them since they are non-poisionous. I would however have to kill the poisonous ones due to my kids and dogs. A copperhead got my dog two years ago and I thought he was a goner but he survived.

My wife and I used to keep rattle snakes. They facinate me and keeping them in aquariums was the only way I could get enough. We had to get rid of them when we had a kid. We also ended up with a rat and 3 mice that survived multiple dry bites. Our house used to be a zoo. Now it is just fish and a poodle.

Beth The bigger one is a male. The Albino is a Female. The male is Het Albino so in a 2 years They will be making babies. They will produce 50/50 regulars and albinos. But the regs will be all het albino. I do have a third retic. Its called an Tiger Amel which is posted in my Avatar. It was sold to me as a female but I had him probed and he turned out male. Im a little mad but they are a semi rare snake.
I have been in talks with a few of the bigger breeders. I have plans for 3 or 4 more snakes to be bought in the next 3-6 months. A sunfire tiger het Albino. The guy is giving me a killer deal. A Genetic Stripe maybe a Pair I havent decided. Then a Tiger Female Amel to go with my Male. Then Im done for a while. Atleast a year or two unless I can find a really awesome deal on a Semi Adult Female Lavender Albino Tiger.
Sad thing is I actually got rid of all my fish. They started to bore me and I was neglecting the tank. I sold the entire set up from my main 75 with lights entire sump set up to a QT tank to my salt to food to my RO Unit for $400. The person got about $1700 worth of crap for nothing.

That is understandable. But many more non-venomous snakes get the ax needlessly.

My oldest, and favorite, ball python only eats gerbils, and I ended up keeping one. The snake wasn't hungry when I got the gerbil, and by the time he was hungry, I had grown attached to the gerbil. He was ugly but very well tamed, love human interaction, and smart for a little rodent. He passed away the old fashion way.
Couldn't ever keep rats and mice....nothing stinks as bad....

Never would have dawned on me to kill a non poisonous snake. Don't understand people like that. My mom had a cousin who stayed with us for a while who hated snakes. He turned loose a king snake me and the brother caught and ran it over. That cost him several gallons of water in the gas tank of his VW bus.

No animal in the world is hated more than the snake, I think.....not sure why? There are certainly some critters that are a lot uglier...not that I personally think snakes are ugly.
Crypt, so where do you keep all these terribly huge snakes?

T316 They have been known under correct care to grow 10 feet in a year. Its not power feeding. Its giving an animal a meal every 7-10 days. Its like that Mike Rowe Dirty jobs episode with the alligators. In the wild they grow a foot a year but in that dudes farm they grew 4 feet in 1 year with a healthy correct diet.
Beth. I have talked to a few guys and Retics are an ambush predator. They like to be in small areas they feel secure in and grab anything that maybe walking by. I keep the two biggers ones in 41qt sterlite bins. I keep the Amel in a 16qt. When I bought my male orginally I hooked him up. Gave him this decent sized cage. He was all messed up. Roaming. Trying to hide all the time. Wouldnt eat. He was stressed out. Andy helped me figure it out. I went out bought the correct bin and never looked back.

I think it originated from satan using one to talk to people.

My my..the problems I start, with my friends. lol
You have some good growth, on that Tiger het, Paul. In less than 6 months, you'll be looking for a rabbit breeder.
In a few years, I'll be borrowing him, to introduce to some of my girls. He has a great full dorsal stripe. I can't wait to see him, when he's 10 - 12 feet long.

LOL. It is all your damn fault. Thats for sure. But its awesome. I couldnt be happier with how tame he is either. Its like having a long slender dog. He is so gentle and easy going. Loves to be held. The Albino is starting to be the sameway. Its def an addiction now. I cant stop. Its just so much money for cool animals.

Money up front yeah, but snakes are pretty easy to keep compared to dogs or even salt water fish tanks.
I love the avatar pic of your male. Can you post some new shots of him?
I keep my 3 BPs together in a large enclosure and use mailing boxes for their hide boxes. All 3 almost always choose to cram in to a single box. How 4'-5' bulky snakes can squeeze into the smallest places is amazing.
