Someone help me with this test kit

I have Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit and I was just testing my Ammonia. Well I cannot distiguish the shade of yellow. It is showing up like it resembles the first one(0) more than the second(.25). Well it looks yellow, but it has this chalky texture to it.
Does it have to match the color chart exactly or am I still showing Ammonia?
Like I said it is a chalky yellow color, not green.
Please Help

since you are reading by comparing a see through vial(transparrent) to a solid colored card, you will not see an exact amtch, but the tones must match, they will appear to be light or a little off shade

kyarnkid,
i have the same test kit. is it the saltwater master, green box (i think) or are you using the pill form kit? well if it helps i have both and use them both to compare. i personally am looking for a better kit due to the same problems you are having. mine is also hard to distinguish between "0 and .25". 0 is a bright yellow, mine is always more toward the greenish yellow which is .25. if you are reading anything resembling greenish yellow it is not 0. how are your nitrites? this may also help you tell between the two. hope this helps.

The ammonia test is not showing a green shade, it is yellow. It is however, chalky yellow, not bright yellow like the color chart says. I think mine is 0. Because it is like fshhub said, it is transparent. I hope its 0

i'd hate to speculate, without seeing, but it sounds like it is, one thing you can do, if you are still worried, is take your kit, and a sample to your lfs, and ask them to test it for you, with yours and theirs, and see for sure, maybe, it is only because you are not used to using that kit, and the colors are a bit odd, i never thought of that when i mentioned those kits because it does not affect me, maybe i am used to looking at those colors(in fact, i have to do the same thing every day at work), they are good kits though, jus tmay take a couple of tests, to get used to seeing them

Personally I think that test kit can be suspect .....they are difficult to correctly read and have been known to expire or just simply be bad.....I'd at the least compare the results from your tests with results from a trusted LFS .....most good LFS will be glad to run a test for you
