something on my snail

I just got a clean up crew from swf and notice on one of the snail a littile round feathery looking thing comes out on the shell. sometimes it jumps back in. What is it? and is it ok to have?

if it is , it is coming through the back of the shell

Could it be a tiny feather duster? I have one on one of my hermits just above it's head. It looks like a woman from an ols '20's movie.
