Something's taking over my sand

My sand all of a sudden has turned almost purple all over. What is this? Is this algae? How do I get rid of this? Tank has been up for a year. Do I need to bulk up my cleanup crew?

It could be Coralline alage. If it is then that is a good thing. Post a pic of it so we can see it.
