I read to place corals so far apart because of "wars". then I see all these pictures of corals packed into a tank, touching each other and they look beautiful. So why do they warn about putting them so close?
u dont want corals touching each otehr unless they are the same kinds really then it can be ok....corals will sting each other when they come into contact with each other....
some LPS have long sweeper tentacles that can float around and sting close by corals....
we are taking corals from all around the oceans and stickin them in one small tank and they fight with each other for growth and survival....
ive experience some bad wars.... IME acans and yumas are some of the more potents corals ive had an acro fall on each one of these kind and within mintues half the acro was dead....
anyways it is true u do want some space between corals and as they grow out u have to watch to make sure they dont touch and if they get close thats when u frag
Yes they can kill but I find if you place them away and then let them grow I find most do just fine. As you can see from my pics the purple plate is growing over the orange but they are still fine. The milli just started to hit the digi but it also is fine. I think my corals just seem to keep each other back but still grow and live. Now I have seen a LPS (acan and others) kill sps. I tend to keep all my LPS far from any sps.
so are you saying that shrooms won't fight with other shrooms, or zoos with zoos? Or is it bigger than that, LPS don't mind other LPS and SPS don't mind other SPS?
corals of the same kind dont mind each otehr really....
u can see the milli has killed part of the monti....
if u have 2 hammers touchin they should be fine...but 2 different lps then no they will fights and one will kill the other same with all other corals... zoo's will be fine touchin zoos but if they touch other things mostlikely they wont be happy
I see. That makes sense. I thought people were just ignoring the distance thing.
And no, that's not a kangaroo, it's my wallaby Quigley. (Much smaller than a kangaroo and nicer too.
