Southdown Info

I found this on another website, and I thought that I would post the info for anyone having trouble finding Southdown.
You can ask your local Home Depot to order Southdown sand, but be sure to give them this info so you get the right stuff:
SKU # 578-819
UPC # 0-210026-16865-5
Model # 420-100
The SKU is a generic number that refers to 5 different types of playsand and not just Southdown. Give the person all this info to insure you get something that will not harm your tank inhabitants!

Do you take the HD person to dinner or just pay them out right cash to get them to order it?

LOL....I think every HD should just carry the stuff....I vote we boycott HD nation wide until Southdown is readily available nation wide!!;)

Dacia you are such a sweetheart!!! My hubby and I have been looking EVERYWHERE for the stuff. The HD employees have never heard of Southdown, maybe because our local store is fairly new, but they made me look like an idiot. Thank You so much!!!:D

Go to http://www.purearagonite.com/SandBed.html to determine how much sand you should have in your tank. There's an option there which allows you to find out how much you need to buy in order to have a specific number of inches deep sandbed. :D

Thanks again! Does sand really weigh 90 pounds per cubic foot? If so, I need 960 pounds for a 4" sand bed!

For a tank with a foot print of 48"x18" you will need about 220 pounds for a 5-6 inch bed.

I called Home Depot and they said if it is not in the store that they cannot special order it. So much for that idea.

I work at Eckerd right now to pay for kollidge and my car...anyway, whenever a customer asks an associate to order something, we try to get them out of the store ASAP becuase that means more WORK. If we don't have it, chances are we CAN get it. But, unless you talk to someone in charge such as a manager, you WILL get the run around. ;) Same goes for other stores such as Home Depot...it sucks, but Kipass is right. Threaten to sue them, and they will be happy to oblige. :D

Too much trouble. I am setting up a 10 gallon so I don't need much anyway. I can get it from that website for a total of $40 or I can get it from ***** for 7.99 for ten pounds. Thanks.
