How big should a tank be used to house an undulated trigger alone? just throwing around the idea.

Alone...I'd say no more than 75gal, with as large as they get. It's not uncommon to see a large, adult Undulate at 10".
Absolutely gorgeous fish and very deserving of a species only tank, might I add.

I'm not so liberal on tank sizes; IME the activity level of this fish deserves a 4x2x2-120GL or a 6x1.5x2-135. They can obtain a foot in length, and for anyone who's seen a foot long fish in a 90GL tank would probably agree. My LFS has a 12" Desjardini Tang in a 90, and it looks sooooo tight it's sad. I've got a 54"x18"24"-100GL Undy tank, and I'm hopeing to swap it out for a 120 or 135 sooner than later. People fixate so much on the length of a tank, but IMO haveing the width is equally as important.

I bet AW meant no "less" than 75.
Please do not put that fish in a 55 - he will be miserable once he nears adulthood. They are beautiful fish, but they require a little more room than that to be happy. Also, don't forget to take into account any tank decor, rocks, etc. that you may have that take up more of their swimming room.
Ditto on the dimensions of the tank instead of just quantity of water.

Thank you, for clarifying...I did, in fact, mean NO LESS than 75gal.
