is splitting always into 2 or can it split into 3-4 etc.?

They generally only split into two. Most animals that reproduce by splitting generally split into two - ensures a better success rate. Certainly there are exceptions to this but that is the general rule.
I believe a seoncd mouth to be a good sign .... especially if both are eating. Not sure on the rest of your questions though ...
