Sponge

I have an orange sponge tube like about 2" in diameter, and about 6" tall, it has holes at the top and on the side which open and close, it is growing out of one of my live rocks it is getting coverd with corline alge. Should I leave it in direct light or not? also does it need to be fed. If so what?

I'm not sure but from your description that you have a filter feeding worm(?) instead of a sponge. I have the same thing which came on my lr. It will sometimes chang size and close its' openings after feeding times.
