sponges that smell

well, i now have two sun dried sponges. and they both smell to high hell....how would you suggest i get the stinch out?
one of them i'm going to bleach...hope that works....and use it as a loufa. the other one is pretty and red so i don't want to bleach it but i do want to use it as decor....anyone know how i can get the smell out of that one without it loosing it's color?

let the pink one airt out in the sun for a few days. i did that with a few brwn sponges i got from the beach, didnt use bleach, and a few days in the sun, it smells like new.
