Spot Feeding an Open Brain

I got this guy recently and was told to spot feed it small pieces of shrimp, fish, clams, etc. About 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch. Well I tried that last night and the guy couldn't hold on to the shrimp long enough to get it to his mouth. Should I put the shrimp directly into the mouth?
This morning (early) I fed my other corals Cyclopeeze so I gave him a squirt of it. His feeder tenticles grabbed on to the little pieces so I think he got food. Once again, I did not see his tenticles getting the food into his mouth, but I assume it did.
Here is th pic.

Do you turn off your power heads and filters when you feed? Its recomended for spot feedings you have no flow present so the food has time to be ingested. I keep my power heads and filter off for 20 mins when I spot feed my corals.

I turn the powerheads off, but not for that long. 20 mins?
Will an Open Brain be happier with chunks of seafood or Cyclopeeze?

From what I have read..zooplankton-based foodstuffs, such as minced Mysis, krill, or other "meaty" foods. I dont think bigger would be better in this instance but maybe a longer feeding period.

I feed mine mysis but it usually takes a while of feeding the tank for it to get really hungry. Drip some juice from the food into the tank a few minutes before feeding. Also I would make sure it's not expanding into the rocks as that can cause infection or recession.

Its calcium disk is setting on the rock. What do you mean expanding into the rocks? It expands a little over the rock.
I was told he can be set in the sand or on the rocks. Is that wrong?

I would avoid placing it on the rocks as they are sharp and rough and might damage the coral. I've read that sand is much better and safer for the brains.

I agree plate corals and brains should be on the sand bed. Damage can eaisily occur by placing them on your LR.
