Spots on Angel

I had a fish scuffling with another. The offender has been removed. This angel now appears to have black spots on him and black on his fins although the fins are not ragged. Is it possible for fish to get bruised and what could the black on his fins be? Clown fish also has black on fins although they too are not ragged. Help with possible problem and what are effective cures. I have no hospital tank so if its a disease will have to treat the whole tank and do not want to affect the biological

Hey Tang, Hypo only works for ICK [white spot disease].
For black ick, or black spot disease a series of formalin bathes will need to be done. You can use a fish bucket for this.

Does Ferner say that in his book? If so , I'll have to look that one up!
Lets see what Terry has to say.

Mr. Tang, Terry B., and Beth, how long have you guys have been in this hobby? Or how many years of experience do you have. You guys know a lot. In a way I kindda envy you guys, in a good way :) .
Well since you guys are in a way one of the source of the infos concerning diseases and treatments, I have a question.
I have never tried hyposalinity, copper, or any treatments, merely because I am relatively new to this hobby. The only thing I've tried is the garlic soaked food which does not work really well, probably because my fish was not sick in the first place :D .
Anyway, Mr. Tang when you're talking about hyposalinity, and you're saying that it's reef safe, is it invertebrates safe too? Hyposalinity lowers the specific gravity of the water and from what I know invertebrates prefer higher sg than fishes. How does this work?
Uh I have another question, where do you get your books from? Well the only place I checked is Barnes and Noble and they don't have any good ones. Stores like ***** have some, but not good ones. Do you know where I can find some? I normally just read stuff off the internet sites, and I'm just affraid that I'm learning the wrong stuff, because these different sites contradict with one another sometimes.
Thanks,

Naso: I didn't catch anywhere here that said that hyposalinity is "reef safe". Make no mistake, it is NOT reef safe. Hyposalinity will kill off inverts, live rock and live sand.
As for books, SWF.com sells many many good books on the hobby. Also Amazon.com sells many books, though this site tends to sell the same books cheaper. What you can do is do a review at Amazon, which gives details and consumer reviews of books and then compare prices to get it the cheapest. If you are new to the hobby, I'd recommend Bob Fenner's "The Conscientious Marine Hobbyist". It is a very good book that covers all facets of the marine hobby. It has a desent section on fish and inverts as well. Easy to read, interesting and lots of nice pics to boot!
Thanks for your support of us and SWF.com!
:D
